A man who works with his hands is a labourer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist. ~Louis Nizer (1902–1994)
My name is Matic and I am one of the main craftsmen building the two logboats. For me, working with wood has always been a passion and a way to connect with past and present culture, and also to create something for the future. Every action taken during carving these logboats helped me reconnect and better understand the wood-working techniques used in the past.
The challenges met while carving with stone tools instilled in me the deepest respect for our prehistoric ancestors. I am humbled by this experience and excited to finally take the boat to water when it will be ready.
